BCS Make Dream Start in Waterford Schoolgirls Soccer League.
Fourteen students representing BCS played their first-ever match (15th Dec 2025) in the Waterford Schoolgirls Soccer League, taking on Pres Waterford in the opening round at Villa Park. The team marked the occasion in outstanding fashion with a comprehensive 10- 0 victory.
Goalkeeper and captain Sophie O Rourke won the toss and led her team confidently from the back. BCS wasted no time asserting their dominance, and within the first minute they had taken the lead. From a corner kick, Anna Cullinane set the tone for the match by driving the ball into the back of the net. Second minute, Molly Dooling added to the goal scoring sheet and continued in a cool, calm and collective manner two more goals (goal no. 4 and 5) advancing on the keepers error scoring the hat trick.
BCS continued to press relentlessly, displaying excellent teamwork, sharp pressing and strong communication across the pitch. Their attacking play caused constant problems for the Pres defence, namely Aoibhinn Barry, Molly Dooling and Madeline Hayes. Midfield controlled possession Aoibhe O Gorman, Maryam Hussainzada, Lauryn Murphy, Niamh Whelan and Macy McGuinness throughout. The defence remained solid and organised Grace O’ Connor, Anna Cullinane, Frozt Ember, Esme Oakley Nolan and Emily Henry throughout the game. Many thanks to our injured player Sophie O Connor for supporting the girls today.
The players should be extremely proud of their effort and sportsmanship, and especially new players partaking in their first match. We look forward to the next round of fixtures in the New Year.
Scorers: Anna Cullinane -1; Molly Dooling -3; Madeline Hayes – 2; Aoibhe O’Gorman -1; Maryam -2; Aoibhinn Barry -1.
